The story is mostly self contain so yes. But i wont lie the story beat will have a bigger punch if you've played the previous games. Alright and I think I will play the previous games if I'm really invested :) Yea you can. But i still suggest to play or watch dmc3 cutscenes to understand why dmc5 so cool.

With the series being back in the public eye with the relatively recent Devil May Cry 5 game, now is the perfect time for an adaptation of the fan-favorite series.
DMC1 can be done in under 2 hours on normal mode. DMC2 can be done in under 2 hours (for each character) on DMD mode. DMC3 is the longest. There is 20 mission and if you only fight the enemies you need to you can pass each mission in ~10 minutes assuming you don't get stuck.
